DIMENSIONS

16” x 7” x 12” plus the handle


DESCRIPTION

Beautiful ash splint construction. Twisted sweetgrass upper edge. Steam bent chamfered ash handle. These baskets were made by the Micmacs and Passamaquoddys for the rich “rusticator” tourists that frequented the coast of Maine and eastern Canada in the early 20th century. Rich dark patina.






CONDITION
Excellent. Not a single strand out of place or broken. A FINE EARLY NATIVE AMERICAN BASKET.
