We are offering a very old, antique
Javanese Wedung. I believe this blade could very well date back to the 16th
c. or possibly even earlier. The engraved leaf and floral scrollwork on the
base of the blade still retains some of its gold overlay, the back edge of the
blade also has traces of gold still in place. Because of its rather strange
texture and pamor, I believe meteorite material was used in the forging process.
The metal portion of the grip, over the many years has acquired a very old and
a “well used” appearance. I believe the ivory section of the grip is an old
replacement.
The sheath appears to be made out of ironwood,
and has an ivory or bone belt hook on
its reverse side which is held in place with three ornate gold colored metal
bands.

12 ¾ in.
