WILLIAM HAWKINS
DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a grand-sized cloud painting over a green and rocky hillside that measures 24x36 inches. It is canvas mounted on board. This will frame to approximately 33x45 inches and look good in a wide profile dark wood, plein air or impressionist style frame. It has some thick paint and very expressive brush work. I use no black on my palette and very few tube colors (I'm using more than I used to)...a lot of mixing happens right on the canvas. You can see some of my technique on the YouTube video links ...and there might be more info. about this painting on the blog link below.
This great new original oil painting would sell in a gallery for about $2600framed. I don't like eBay fluff so I wouldn't say this if it weren't true. I've sold quite a number of big ol' paintings at retail prices in nice, swanky, high-end galleries over the years. The frame pictured below can be purchased with the painting. I mill these right here in my little desert studio out of select grade wood, 5 inches wide with an antiqued black finish. This size would be $149

I've received reports from the south rim of the Grand canyon. My painting which has been included in the Kolb Studio museum's permanent collection is very popular. Maybe we'll make a limited edition print of it ...?
I am now making frames to go with my paintings. They are solid, furniture grade hardwood or select grade clear fir in a black / antiqued finish. These are high-quality wide profile frames at great prices. ...very hard to find anything in this wide profile...and very expensive when you do. Just write for details.
I use archival quality paints and substrates and finish all paintings with a quality varnish for protection and cleanability. I paint on standard size canvas panels so the frame you need to fit your painting will be easy to find.
